Care Guide

Our furniture is crafted from solid, natural hardwoods - shaped by hand, designed to last, and made to be lived with. Every piece will evolve with time and touch, gaining depth and character. With a little care, it will age beautifully for years to come.

In this guide:

General Principles of Care

Solid wood responds to its environment and deserves simple, respectful maintenance. Here's how to care for your furniture day to day:

  • Let the wood breathe
Avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight, near radiators, or in damp areas. Wood expands and contracts slightly over time - this is natural.

  • Clean gently
Wipe surfaces with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh sprays, polish, or abrasive pads. For unfinished pieces, dry dusting is best.

  • Protect from heat and moisture
Use coasters, placemats, and heatproof mats. Water rings, steam, and hot dishes can mark the surface if left unprotected.

Finished vs. Unfinished Pieces

Some of our furniture is finished with oils. Others are left raw, so you can choose your own finish - or allow the wood to age naturally.

  • Oiled pieces
These may benefit from re-oiling every 6 to 12 months, depending on use. It helps maintain the richness of tone and protection.

  • Unfinished pieces
Keep them dry and clean. You may choose to oil or wax the surface in future - or leave it to develop a quiet, natural patina over time.

How to Re-Oil Your Furniture

(for pieces finished in oil)

  1. Lightly clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth

  2. Apply a small amount of natural oil using a lint-free cloth, following the grain

  3. Let it absorb for 15–30 minutes

  4. Wipe away any excess and allow to dry for 24 hours before use

We recommend testing any finish on an inconspicuous area first.

What to Expect Over Time

We use solid wood, not engineered boards or veneers. This means:

  • Subtle colour shifts will occur with light and use

  • Hairline movements in the grain are normal

  • The surface will soften and deepen in character

These signs are part of the story - not imperfections, but proof of life and time.
